About

Wichita Falls Poetry Society

WFPS is a proud chapter of the Poetry Society of Texas (PST). We meet once a month (excluding June, July and August) to share our poetry, to discuss the various aspects of the art of the written word, to expand our knowledge, and to inspire each other. We participate in different events throughout the year. This includes the Arts Alive! Home and Garden Festival, the Foard County Poetry Festival, a summer workshop we conduct each year, and the After Hours Art Walks in downtown Wichita Falls.

Mission Statement:

The purposes of the Wichita Falls Poetry Society shall be to study the myriad forms of poetry, the works and lives of poets, and to encourage the writing of poetry by members of the society and the community.

Meeting Details:

WFPS meets on the third Saturday of each month, typically from 2:00 - 4:00pm in the Texas room at the Kemp Center for the Arts. Our meetings are casual and guests are always welcomed to participate or to just simply sit and listen. We usually start with the program of the month, break for refreshments, conduct a brief business meeting, then take turns reading our own poetry from the previous month's contest. The members of WFPS take turns leading the program about different topics, types or forms of poetry.

Members of the society also meet in December for our own Christmas luncheon as well as once a year for a Summer Workshop.

Yearly Membership Fee:

$25 for WFPS | $25 for PST

Meeting Location:

Kemp Center for the Arts

1300 Lamar St

Wichita Falls, TX 76301
